  • How to get an NFT?

  • What is an NFT?

    +

An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a one-of-a-kind unit of data that can be given away, sold or traded to represent ownership of unique items. NFTs can be attached to any digital file, including photos, videos, audio, or even virtual real estate. These assets can be transferred and bought and sold using cryptocurrency on an infrastructure known as the blockchain.

All NFTs are stored on the blockchain, which records ownership of digital assets through records that are near-impossible to hack. Every time an NFT is transferred or traded or sold, that transaction is stored for all to see - adding another 'block' of data to the 'chain'. NFTs can be bought and sold with cryptocurrency, such as SOL.

  • What is a crypto wallet and how do I set one up?

    +

A crypto wallet is similar to your physical wallet, containing money (in the form of cryptocurrency) and a form of ID. Your crypto wallet does the same thing as a physical wallet, but on the blockchain.

Your wallet will have its own 'ID' and contains both your cryptocurrency balance and any NFTs you have bought with those cryptocurrencies. There are a number of crypto wallet providers, including Phantom, which is widely-used, secure, and user-friendly.

When you create a crypto wallet, you'll get what is called a 'seed phrase'. This phrase is made up of a series of words which will let you recover your cryptocurrency or NFTs if you lose access. It is important that you never give this phrase to anyone.

Anyone who knows your 'seed phrase' can gain full access to your wallet and could buy, sell or transfer any funds or assets so it's important to keep this safe. You should never store your seed phrase on any application or device that is connected to the internet. Storing them offline is the safest option

Cryptocurrencies are a digital/virtual currency that is secured by cryptography, which makes it nearly impossible to counterfeit or double-spend. Many cryptocurrencies are decentralized networks based on Blockchain technology - a distributed ledger enforced by a disparate network of computers. Benefits of cryptocurrency include cheaper & faster money transfers and decentralized systems that do not collapse at a single point of failure.

  • What does it mean to “mint” an NFT?

    +

Minting refers to the process of tokenizing a digital file, or a digital piece of art, and publishing it on the blockchain. Once an NFT is minted, you can verify ownership and buy, sell and trade the NFT.

  • What is SolSea?

    +

SolSea is a Non-Fungible Token marketplace that facilitates the trade of NFTs. Here fans can explore and trade NFTs

  • Will it cost me money to mint an NFT if I win?

    +

There will be no cost to you to receive the NFT. It will be transferred directly to your digital online wallet.

  • What blockchain is used for these NFTs?

    +

Solana is a blockchain platform designed to host decentralized, scalable applications. Founded in 2017, Solana is an open-source project currently run by Solana Foundation based in Geneva, while the blockchain was built by San Francisco-based Solana Labs.1 Solana is much faster in terms of the number of transactions it can process and has significantly lower transaction fees compared to rival blockchains like Ethereum. The cryptocurrency that runs on the Solana blockchain—also named Solana (SOLUSD) and with the ticker symbol SOL

  • What is the environmental impact of the NFTs?

    +

We have chosen to use the Solana Blockchain to mint our NFTs. In the November 2021 update, the Solana Foundation determined that a single Solana transaction takes 0.00051 kWh, or 1,836 Joules, of energy. This compares to a single Google search which takes 1,080 Joules, of energy. Solana Foundation also announced that the Solana blockchain has achieved carbon neutrality for 2021 thanks to carbon offsetting.

  • What NFTs does this collection consist of?

    +

The WeLoveWomenCycling Collection consists of 8 unique NFTs. Each NFT is minted in limited 30 editions. Each copy of the NFT has a unique edition number assigned to it. These NFTs have been designed entirely for the purpose of this Competition.

The NFTs with addition number 1 will be awarded to the first participants who retweets the selected tweet by WeLoveCycling Twitter channel. In the event that there is a draw, an independent auditor will oversee the draw and select a winner. The holders of the #1 edition of the NFTs will be entitled to receive an original green jersey for the best sprinter.

Prizes are redeemable once only. Once redeemed, the #1 edition NFTs no longer carry the associated prizes. If the owner trades the #1 edition NFT AFTER the prizes have been redeemed, the prizes do not carry over to the next NFT owners. If the prizes have NOT been redeemed and the NFT is traded, then the prizes do carry over to the new owner.

  • How is the NFT Ownership defined?

    +

When the NFTs are transferred to the winning entrants, Optimist retains publishing rights and intellectual property and full design ownership of the NFTs. Optimist reserves the right to use the NFTs throughout any and all forms of communication, during and after the competition for an indefinite period. The NFT owners are free to trade on the secondary market and hold their NFTs through the appropriate platforms such as but not limited to SolSea, publish and display publicly, but cannot use the NFTs for commercial use.
